Reverence receiving Holy Communion The Eucharist - The Holy Catholic Church - Index

On the reverence we should have when we receive Holy Communion:

We tend to imitate what other people do because it is very human. We don't have the opportunity of imitating the saints because they are very scarce and in the words of Saint Jose Maria Escriva: saintly people seem to be always on the way, they make us feel uncomfortable because they seem to love God more than we do. The saints seem to be very strange people who follow the counsels of their hearts instead of imitating the currents of the world.

We are requested to have great reverence for the the Blessed Sacrament, because it is the true Presence of God. We therefore must behave properly when we come to Church and furthermore we should prepare ourselves before we receive the Holy Eucharist and come before the Lord with great reverence.

I have been deeply touched by the Presence of God and I must kneel down when I receive Jesus in the Holy Eucharist. ( I also feel unworthy to receive Holy Communion in the hand, so I receive Jesus on my tongue)

I present here some biblical basis for my behaviour.

I must receive Jesus daily in the Holy Eucharist because I believe in His Real Presence and because He is the food of my soul.

You don't have to follow my personal views, but I must say with Our Lady :
" The Lord has done great things for me and Holy is His name."

Reasons why I kneel down when I receive Jesus in Holy Communion

Press [*] to go back.

1- The Lord was asking to reverence His Presence in the Sanctuary, How much more should we reverence His true Presence, body and blood in the Holy Eucharist ? and in the the Blessed Sacrament ?  [*] (Back up)

2- This is the reason why I kneel. [*]

3- At the mention of the Name of Jesus every knee should bow, what should we do at the true Presence of His Body and Blood ? [*]

4- Some lambs are different that others, some are crippled, some are quick, some too quick , some are very slow. In feeding God's sheep, the priests should be very patient. [*]

5- Some Priests seek uniformity in the Church, just as people queuing in the bank to go to the teller. But the body of Christ is not a building with bricks of the same size or equal floors [*]

6- Reason for testimony [*]

7- The priest should not be upset, and much less angry, otherwise he might be deterring the faithful from the due worship to the Lord.  [*]

8- Some choose to be at the feet of the Lord. [*]
