Our Lady of Garabandal

Here are some of the main messages:

October 18, 1961

"We must make many sacrifices, perform much penance, and visit the Blessed Sacrament frequently. But first, we must lead good lives. If we do not, a Chastisement will befall us. The cup is already filling up and if we do not change, a very great Chastisement will come upon us."

June 18, 1965

"As my message of October 18 has not been complied with and has not been made known to the world, I am advising you that this is the last one. Before, the cup was filling up. Now it is flowing over. Many cardinals, many bishops and many priests are on the road to perdition and are taking many souls with them. Less and less importance is being given to the Eucharist. You should turn the wrath of God away from yourselves by your efforts. If you ask His forgiveness with sincere hearts, He will pardon you. I, your mother, through the intercession of Saint Michael the Archangel, ask you to amend your lives. You are now receiving the last warnings. I love you very much and do not want your condemnation. Pray to us with sincerity and we will grant your requests. You should make more sacrifices. Think about the passion of Jesus."

About a world wide warning

Conchita Gonzalez (January 1, 1965)

"Our Lady said that a warning would be given to the entire world before the miracle in order that the world might amend itself. It will come directly from God an d be visible throughout the entire world.

Conchita Gonzalez' Diary
June 2, 1965:

"This warning, like the chastisement, is a very fearful thing for the good as well as the wicked. It will draw the good closer to God and it will warn the wicked that the end of time [not to be confused with the end of the world] is coming and that these are the last warnings. No one can stop it from happening. It is certain, although I know nothing of the day or the date.

The warning will be like a revelation of our sins, and it will be seen and experienced equally by believers and non-believers and people of any religion whatsoever. Each person on earth will have an interior experience of how they stand in the light of God's Justice. It is like a purification for the miracle. And it is like a catastrophe. It will make us think of the dead, that is, we would prefer to be dead than to experience the warning. The warning will be recognised and accepted by the world.

Jesus will send the warning to purify us so that we may better appreciate the miracle by which he clearly proves his love for us and hence his desire that we see the consequences of the sins we have committed. I think that those who do not despair will experience great good from it for their sanctification.

The warning is something supernatural and will not be explained by science. It will be seen and experienced by all men all over the world and will be a direct work of God. It will be very awesome. However, if men die from it, it will be only from the emotional  shock of seeing it. It will be a correction of the conscience of the world. Those who do not know Christ (non-Christians) will believe it is a warning from God."

Jacinta Gonzalez:

"The Warning is something that is first seen in the air everywhere in the world and immediately is transmitted into the interior of our souls. It will last for a very little time, but it will seem a very long time because of its effect within us. It will be for the good of our souls in order to see in ourselves our conscience; the good that we have failed to do, and the bad that we have done. Then we will feel a great love towards our Heavenly Parents and ask forgiveness for all our offences. The Warning is for us to draw closer to Him and to increase our faith. therefore, one should prepare for that day, but not await it with fear. God does not send things for the sake of fear but rather with justice and love. He does it for the good of all His children so they might enjoy eternal happiness and not be lost."

Mari-Loli Mazon: (knows the year of the Warning.)
"We will see it and feel it within ourselves and it will be most clear that it             comes form God. "

The great Miracle

Conchita Gonzalez' Diary:

"The Blessed Virgin advised me of a great miracle, saying that God, Our Lord, would perform it through her intercession. Just as the chastisement will be very, very great, in keeping with the needs of the world.

The Blessed Virgin has told me the date of the miracle and what it will consist of. I am suppose to announce it eight days in advance, so that people will come. The Pope will see it from wherever he is, and Padre Pio also [he is reliably reported to have seen the miracle before he died]. The sick who are present at the miracle will be cured and the sinners will be converted.

It will coincide with an event in the Church and with the feast of a saint who is a martyr of the Eucharist, and it will take place at eight-thirty on a Thursday evening. It will be visible not only to all those who are in the village but also to those in the surrounding mountains. It will be the greatest miracle that Jesus has performed for the world. There won't be the slightest doubt that it comes from God and that it is for the good of mankind.

There will be no doubt in the mind of anyone who sees this great miracle which God, Our Lord, will perform through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin. And now as we await this great day of the miracle, let us see if the world changes and the chastisement is averted."

Mari-Loli Mazon (one of the visionaries):

"The miracle will take place within one year after the warning."

The permanent sign

A permanent sign will remain forever as a result of the great miracle. It will be of supernatural origin and something that has never been seen before on earth.

Conchita has written,

"A sign of the miracle, which will be possible to film or televise but not touch, will remain forever at the pines."

The Chastisement

During July of 1962, Conchita, Mari-Loli and Jacinta were shown a vision of the impending chastisement. Our Lady told the visionaries that, if we do not heed her warnings and mankind does not change after the warning and miracle, God will send the chastisement.

In describing the vision Mari-Loli said:

"It would be worse than having fire on top of us - fire underneath us and fire all around us. She saw people throwing themselves into the sea, but instead of putting the fire out it seemed to make them burn more."

In a note written by Conchita she states,

"The punishment is conditional upon whether or not mankind heeds the messages of the Blessed Virgin Mary."

Also she writes in her Diary,

"If the world changes, the chastisement can be averted."

Special occurrences

Excerpts from "What is Garabandal?"

Children in ecstasy during an apparition

  INTERIOR CALLS PRECEDING  ECSTATIC RAPTURES

The girls' visions were preceded by three interior calls (llamadas) each becoming stronger than the last. After the third call they would run (A)to the sunken lane where the visions first began and crashing to their knees on the jagged rocks, enter into a heavenly rapture. Their heads were thrown back, the pupils of their eyes dilated and their faces imbued with an angelic countenance. They were insensitive to pin pricks, burns, physical contact or bright spotlights shone directly into their eyes.(B) Their weight factor changed so much that two grown men had great difficulty in lifting one 12-year-old girl and yet they could lift each other with the greatest of ease to offer a kiss to the Virgin(C).

ECSTATIC WALKS AND FALLS DEFY NATURAL LAWS

As the apparitions continued, new phenomena began to occur. With their heads thrown back and unable to see where they were going, the girls in ecstasy would march arm in arm (A), without the slightest difficulty, either frontwards or backwards over very hazardous terrain and sometimes at a pace so rapid that onlookers running at full speed were unable to keep up with them. During these ecstatic "flights" they were able to stop instantly defying the laws of physics as the following crowd, like a speeding car trying to come to a screeching halt, would go right past them. Afterwards, the visionaries were neither out of breath nor perspiring and their pulse rates were normal.

The girls also began to make spectacular falls in ecstasy either collectively or individually. Sometimes they would fall straight backwards, stiff as a board, without bending any part of the body or using the hands to cushion the fall. The loud thud made when they hit the ground frightened onlookers but the visionaries were never hurt. From this prone position, they would rise without pushing themselves up in any way (B). In collective falls they were described by witnesses as "beautiful sculptures" and their clothing was never immodestly ruffled or indecorous.

A JESUIT PRIEST ALSO SEES OUR LADY AND PREVIEW OF GREAT MIRACLE

One of the many priests to witness the events of Garabandal was Fr. Luis Maria Andreu, a young Jesuit theology professor from Ona, Spain. On the night of Aug ust 8, 1961, while observing the visionaries in ecstasy, Fr. Luis cried out four times, "Miracle!" On the drive home with friends later that night and into the next morning he exclaimed, "What a wonderful present the Virgin has given me! How lucky to have a mother like that in heaven....Today is the happiest day of my life!" Shortly after pronouncing these words he lowered his head and passed from this life to the next. In a subsequent vision, the Virgin told the seers that Fr. Luis had seen her and a preview of the great Miracle and that he died of joy.

OUR LADY KISSES RELIGIOUS OBJECTS

When witnesses heard that Our lady wanted to kiss religious objects, many rosaries, medals, crucifixes and wedding rings were given to the seers to present to the Virgin (A). Often, the objects were given to the visionaries in such a way that they couldn't possibly know to whom each belonged, the articles having either been placed on a table set aside for this purpose when the seers were not present or being handed to them by persons other than the rightful owners. Yet, in ecstasy, guided by Our Lady, they never made a mistake in returning wedding rings (B) and other articles to the right person. On the Virgin's last visit to Garabandal she told Conchita, "Through the kiss I have bestowed on these objects my Son will perform prodigies..." This promise has been fulfilled in numerous reported cures from around the world.

MIRACLE OF THE VISIBLE COMMUNION

To confirm the supernatural character of the events, St. Michael told Conchita that on a certain date, the invisible Communion he had been giving her would become visible on her tongue. so, in the early morning hours of July 19, 1962, she left her house in ecstasy, turned a corner, and fell to her knees in an adjacent street. As the crowd pressed around her, she put out her tongue and those just inches away affirmed that it was bare and the mouth empty. Then, faster than the eye could see, a brilliant white Host appeared on her tongue. An amateur with a movie camera a few feet away and only flashlight illumination was able to film the last few moments of the miracle.

EVENTS HAVE NO NATURAL EXPLANATION

The visionaries in ecstasy were carefully studied by eminent doctors and psychiatrists. One child specialist certified that the girls were always completely normal and that the ecstasies did not fall under any known physiological phenomena. Dr. Ricardo Puncernau, leading Spanish neuro psychiatrist stated, "From a strictly scientific point of view, one cannot deny the possibility of a supernatural cause in all this phenomena." Dr. Garcia Ruiz and Dr. Ortiz Gonzalez (arrow) said, "To keep silent would be true scientific cowardice...we do not find any convincing explanation for such phenomena."

THE BLIND APOSTLE AND THE SPREAD OF THE MESSAGE AROUND THE WORLD

At the age of 16, Brooklyn born Joseph Lomangino was blinded and had his olfactory nerve severed in a freak accident. He journeyed through life sightless and without a sense of smell until 1963 when his faculty for smelling was miraculously restored through the intercession of Padre Pio at San Giovanni Rotondo, Italy. While there, Joey asked the famed stigmatist if Our Lady was truly appearing in Spain. When the Padre said yes, Joey went to Garabandal, was deeply impressed and decided to do what he could to tell others about it. He began with local talks in his home town of Lindenhurst, New York. Other people came to help him. The local talks became lectures and spread to other parts of the country and overseas. An organisation was established which would fulfil Our Lady's 1964 prophecy to Conchita: "The house of charity that he (Joey) will establish in New York will bring great glory to God." Garabandal promoters in other countries aligned themselves with Joey and the New York headquarters. Now the Message of Garabandal is being spread in a great number of countries on all five continents.
