The Holy Eucharist - The Priesthood
Although the Word Eucharist does not
appear literally in the Bible, we can see even from the Old Testament how the Sacrifice of
Thanksgiving for the forgiveness of sins is offered personally by the Lamb of God who

On the night of the Last supper, He instituted two
the Priesthood ( Holy Orders ) and the Eucharist.

and wine; he was priest of God Most High.
4. Then the LORD said to Moses, "I am going to rain bread
from heaven for you, and each day the people shall go out and gather enough for that
day. In that way I will test them, whether they will follow my instruction or not.
11 "Phinehas son of Eleazar, son of Aaron the
priest, has turned back my wrath from the Israelites by manifesting such zeal among them
on my behalf that in my jealousy I did not consume the Israelites.
12 Therefore say, 'I hereby grant him my covenant of
13 It shall be for him and for his descendants after
him a covenant of perpetual priesthood, because he was zealous for his God, and
made atonement for the Israelites.' "
23 Those who bring thanksgiving as their sacrifice honor me;
to those who go the right way I will show the salvation of God."
13 I will lift up the cup of salvation and
call on the name of the LORD,
4 "You that are simple, turn in here!" To
those without sense she says,
5 "Come, eat of my bread and drink of the
wine I have mixed.
6 Lay aside immaturity, and live, and walk in the

20 Thus says the LORD: If any of you could break
my covenant with the day and my covenant with the night, so that day and night would
not come at their appointed time,
21 only then could my covenant with my servant David
be broken, so that he would not have a son to reign on his throne, and my covenant with my

22 Just as the host of heaven cannot be numbered and
the sands of the sea cannot be measured, so I will increase the offspring of my servant

their life is poured out on their mothers' bosom.
17. As for you, mortal, thus says the Lord GOD:
Speak to the birds of every kind and to all the wild animals: Assemble and come, gather

sacrificial feast on the mountains of Israel, and you
shall eat flesh and drink blood.
18 You shall eat the flesh of the mighty, and
drink the blood of the princes of the earth -- of rams, of lambs, and of goats, of
bulls, all of them fatlings of Bashan.
19 You shall eat
fat until you are filled, and drink blood until you are drunk, at the sacrificial feast
that I am preparing for you.
20 And you shall be filled at my table with horses
and charioteers, with warriors and all kinds of soldiers, says the Lord GOD.
13. He shall provide a
lamb, a yearling, without blemish, for a burnt offering to the LORD daily; morning by

11 For from the rising of the sun to its
setting my name is great among the nations, and in every
place incense is offered to my name, and a pure offering; for
my name is great among the nations, says the LORD of hosts.
1. And now, O priests, this command is for you.
4. Know, then, that I have sent this command to you, that
my covenant with Levi may hold, says the LORD of hosts.
5 My covenant with him was a covenant of life and
well-being, which I gave him; this called for reverence, and he revered me and stood in
awe of my name.
6 True instruction was in his mouth, and no wrong

51 Then he got into the boat with them and the wind
ceased. And they were utterly astounded,
52 for they did not understand about the loaves,
but their hearts were hardened.
53 So Jesus said to them, "Very truly, I
tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and
drink his blood, you have no life in you.
42 They devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching
and fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.

16 The cup of
blessing that we bless, is it not a sharing in the blood of Christ? The bread that we
break, is it not a sharing in the body of Christ?

23. For I received from the Lord what I also handed on to
you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took a loaf of bread,
15 Through him, then, let us continually offer a
sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that confess his name.
