Money is an instrument that permits us to acquire the things we need, it is very vital for our survival, therefore most of us come to rely on it as a very good and faithful companion. In fact, we depend on it so much that we treat it with love. The love for money can jeopardize our relationship with God. This is why Jesus was poor and despised riches; because when we attach to riches, we make them another god that competes with the true God.
It is not sinful to have money, but it is a sin to love it more than we love God or to love it so much that we don't share it with others who are in need. Abraham, King David and many other great men of the Bible were very rich, but their riches did not interfere with their love for God and neighbor.
The extra money that a rich man has, belongs to the poor.
Nevertheless, when our finances begin to fail and we have economic struggles, we can still turn to God for help.
The Lord says:
1 Timothy 6:10
For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil.
Luke 16:13
No servant can serve two masters, since either he will hate one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.
Mat 6:33
Seek you therefore first the kingdom of God, and his justice; and all these things (money and material needs) shall be added unto you.
 Whatever you need, I am prepared to assist you. If I covered you with riches, you would have many temptations that could destroy your soul. The devil tempted me with riches and I despised them, don't fall into his trap.
Instead of asking me for money or material riches, ask me to give you the grace to be holy. Let me assure you that I will delight with your proposition and take care of your material needs as well.
When a bad economic situation comes your way, pray humbly with the prayer I taught you. In the Our Father prayer, pray with faith "Give us this day our daily bread" Note that I don't want you to ask for future riches, note that I encourage you to also pray for your brothers and sisters, note that I am love and I grant everything when I find love in your heart.
I want you to rely on me instead of money, money is passing by, but I am eternal, I am the source of all riches. Don't keep money enthroned as a god in your heart, that is where my altar is, there I wait for your offering.
