When she was seventeen she heard the voice of God asking her to save France. She went to the king and asked for soldiers to join her in a small army, the King accepted her help as coming from God and entrusted her with the mission of driving out the enemies of France.
Her victories from 23 February 1429 to 23 May 1430 brought Charles VII to the throne. But she was captured by the Burgundians and sold to the English for 10 thousand francs. Tried by an ecclesiastical court, she was executed as a heretic. She died the 31st of May 1431 in Rouen, France; burned alive for her holy patriotic work. She was beatified in 1909, canonized in 1920.
She is the Patroness of France and Soldiers.
