The child grew and became strong in spirit

Gospels explained by Jesus - Gospel messages, gospels explanation - The child grew and became strong in spirit57 Now the time came for Elizabeth to give birth, and she bore a son.
58 Her neighbors and relatives heard that the Lord had shown his great mercy to her, and they rejoiced with her.
59 On the eighth day they came to circumcise the child, and they were going to name him Zechariah after his father.
60 But his mother said, "No; he is to be called John."
61 They said to her, "None of your relatives has this name."
62 Then they began motioning to his father to find out what name he wanted to give him.
63 He asked for a writing tablet and wrote, "His name is John." And all of them were amazed.
64 Immediately his mouth was opened and his tongue freed, and he began to speak, praising God.
65 Fear came over all their neighbors, and all these things were talked about throughout the entire hill country of Judea.
66 All who heard them pondered them and said, "What then will this child become?" For, indeed, the hand of the Lord was with him.
Luke 1:80 The child grew and became strong in spirit, and he was in the wilderness until the day he appeared publicly to Israel. (NRSV)

Inspiration of the Holy Spirit - From the Sacred Heart of Jesus
Gospels explained by Jesus - Gospel messages, gospels explanation - Birth of St John the Baptist
The mercy of God rested upon Elizabeth's womb and she conceived a child in her old age. This child was to be the one to open the way for my coming, the one who would prepare the road for the advent of the promised Messiah.

At the time of the visitation of my mother to her cousin Elizabeth, John the Baptist before he was born, was anointed with the Holy Spirit. The child jumped with joy in his mother's womb, Elizabeth rejoiced and my mother was also filled with the Holy Spirit and praised God with the words of the Magnificat. Luke 1:46-55

John was the greatest among the children born of women. His life is a great example for those who care for the coming of my kingdom. He was humble and small before me despite the popularity he had before men, so that I could take my place as the One coming from God.

He proclaimed repentance for the forgiveness of sins and baptized with water so that everyone could be ready for my salvation. He was martyred for being a witness to me, the savior of the world.

To him was conferred the privilege of baptizing me, the Messiah, the Son of God. He witnessed the Holy Spirit descending upon me and heard the voice of my heavenly Father testifying about me.

I invite you my beloved disciple to follow the steps of John the Baptist. Live a simple life, follow my commandments, give testimony of my salvation and be prepared to live your life for me. Be little, humble, and quiet. Meditate silently my coming to the world and realize that you may be a very important instrument of my salvation.

You know me more that many who have not heard of me. You know me more than those who seek a life of sin and reject my call. You are here now with me because the Holy Spirit has inspired you to seek me. You have found me my child, stay with me.

Share my work of salvation; share my word in whatever way you can. You do not have to preach with words, preach by your good example. You do not have to baptize anyone, but you can pray for everyone’s salvation. You do not have to live isolated from the rest of the world to find holiness. To be holy is to love me and to do my will. My will is to save the whole world despite the opposition that I find in every heart. Therefore my child, do something about your brothers and sisters who are far away from me. Save yourself by saving others.
