John 8:33-37     Year B  -  34th Sunday in ordinary time
If therefore the son shall make you free, you shall be free indeed.

Gospels explained by Jesus - Gospel messages, gospels explanation - If therefore the son shall make you free, you shall be free indeed.33 They answered him: We are the seed of Abraham, and we have never been slaves to any man: how can you say: you shall be free?
34 Jesus answered them: Amen, amen I say unto you: that whosoever commits sin, is the servant of sin.
35 Now the servant abides not in the house for ever; but the son abides for ever.
36 If therefore the son shall make you free, you shall be free indeed.
37 I know that you are the children of Abraham: but you seek to kill me, because my word has no place in you.

It is only the pure of heart that can see God, and only those who listen to my word and know the truth become free.

The man who knows God, loves him and serves him, responding to the call that God makes to every soul since childhood. God is unknown to those who lean themselves on reason and materialism. He is revealed to all those who in humility, look up to Heaven accepting the great testimony of creation whose author is God. He who accepts the existence of God, accepts that in Him he lives, moves and has his being.

My father has sent me into the world, so that all who believe in me may have eternal life. I am the light of the world. This world lives in the darkness of spiritual ignorance because of sin. My infinite mercy has allowed that I may come to bring light to every soul, so that it may see with clarity the reality of its fragile existence here on earth.

The human being resists my spirit because he leans too much on reason and is always looking for the easy way. In his own darkness, he experiences freedom when in reality he is attached to matter and to the joy of his senses, he avoids coming close to me for fear of compromising his freedom to sin but he binds himself spiritually with the chains of sin.

I have come to break the chains of the slavery of sin, I have come to liberate all human beings through my sacrifice on the cross, I have come to make them sons of God and to offer them the freedom that allows them to ascend with me to my Heavenly Kingdom.

I am the Messiah, the liberator of souls, the bridge towards eternal light, the way towards the celestial riches, the hope of those who understand that without me they are lost.

For this reason I call to repentance, to conversion, to detachment from all terrestrial things, to the desire for virtue and all the works that please God.

Blessed are those who treasure my word and accept me as their Lord and Savior. Blessed are those who desire to listen to me each day and to receive my light in their souls. These are those who are called and chosen, the slaves of sin who become free, the future citizens of my Heavenly Kingdom.
